African-American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC)
Badger Springs Middle School kicked off its first African-American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC) meeting of the year by addressing the big issue: the achievement gap for African-American students. After looking at data, parents discussed barriers that get in the way of academic success, and what students need to overcome them. The consensus was that they need more guidance.

Parents went away from the meeting with a commitment to help BSMS AAPAC grow; the goal is for “each one to reach one,” and encourage more parents to be strong advocates for their children’s education – which, by the way, is in keeping with the district's new Strategic Plan!
