AVID College and Career Fair 2015
Badger Springs Middle School’s Annual AVID College Fair grew this year to include a Career Fair at lunch. First, students were treated to a massive college fair that included a scavenger hunt and many activities geared toward making college awareness fun. At lunch, the Riverside County Sheriffs arrived with four vehicles on display. There was a special fire truck appearance from local Fire Station 65. A professional dog trainer showed off her prize winning German Sheppard. In addition, numerous display boards featured careers from being a doctor to a movie director. Students learned the steps necessary to enter various careers and the pay they can expect to earn. Also, school clubs and electives like ASB, Hosa, AVID, and Mouse Squad were out recruiting for next year. Finally, the big day was capped with an AVID parent night. Current students and incoming 5th graders were invited to attend. AVID students spoke to parents in both English and Spanish about their experiences finding success and moving toward their hopes and dreams. Next year will be even better.
